Research Triangle map

Municipalities

The Research Triangle is the area encompassing Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh. This region of North Carolina is known for its strong universities, its massive, tech-based business culture, and its diversity of residents. Because of these traits, the Triangle region has always been a leader in innovation, and that is especially true when it comes to implementing cleantech projects. The municipalities that make up the Triangle have in the past few years made great strides in implementing such projects into their communities. These projects range from clean energy, to safety, to transportation and beyond, and they show just how dedicated the Triangle region is to this new type of innovation.

The fall 2017 and spring 2018 teams contacted municipalities around the Research Triangle including Apex, Benson, Cary, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, Raleigh, and Wake Forest. We asked them to give us information on all of the smart and clean technologies that they had implemented throughut their regions. We've mapped their responses below.
